Monthly Meeting and Guest Speaker, Karl McCarty
Monday, November 18, at 7:00p.m., at the Town of Byron Town Hall (N3097 State Highway 175, Byron, 53006).
Local author and historian Dr. Karl McCarty will speak at the Byron Historical Society meeting on November 18, 2024, sharing stories from his recently published book, South Eden and 17. The book is a historical account of Katherine Baumhardt Reilly and her children, friends and neighbors in South Eden. Through extensive interviews and photographs, the book captures a way of life during the 1900s in the South Eden community. South Eden and 17 was published as a limited edition and is almost sold out. A few copies may be available at the November 18 meeting. McCarty’s talk will also address his future writings, particularly his research on Native American stories from the area.
